Pink Wednesday : OPI Nice Stems Collection Swatches and Review

Summer Pinks in Bloom!
Nice Stems! by OPI Revamps Nails with Vibrant Pink Hues for Summer 2011
Stop and see the flowers with summer’s Nice Stems! by OPI, a limited edition collection featuring four new nail lacquers in stunning shades of pink. With whimsical names based on their floral inspirations, these vibrant, flirty colors range from pale, frosty pink to rich fuchsia. Nice Stems! offers fingers and toes a perfectly pink shade for all of summer’s looks.
“These vibrant, feminine hues complement 60’s ladylike fashions, 70’s glam looks, and bold color-blocking, which are the season’s staples,” says Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI Executive VP & Artistic Director. “The Nice Stems! collection also offers an interesting contrast and feminine accent to the punk and biker looks on the runways.”
“Using different micas and glitters can give lacquer a 3-dimensional look,” adds Weiss-Fischmann. “I Lily Love You is a glitter coat that can be layered over any of the other three shades to add a bright sparkle; or, it can be worn on its own for a subtle tint of pink with strands of glitter.”

Nice Stems! by OPI shades include:
Play the Peonies We’d put our money on this lovely soft-pink.
Come to Poppy Surrender to shine with this shimmering coral-pink.
Be a Dahlia Won’t You? Give the gift of fabulous fuchsia—to yourself!
I Lily Love You Fall head over heels with this light pink sparkle.

I didn't get Play the Peonies because I didn't think it'd suit my skin tone but here are the other 3 :

Be a Dahlia Won’t You? is a dark blue toned fuchsia glass fleck. It's a very bright and sparkly color, instant cheering up! Formula was really nice and built up easily. This is two coats :

Come to Poppy is truly amazing!!! It doesn't seem like much at first but on the nail it's amazing! A bubblegum pink on steroïds. And... a one coater... It dries to a semi matte finish, I tried mattifying it with Essie Matte about You and it resulted in the most perfect matte pink ever!

I Lily Love You is the polish I was the most excited about from the promo pics. It's a sheer pink base with tons of multicolored glitters and irregularly shaped flakes. I don't think I'll be wearing it on its own but probably sandwiched with a sorbet or a jelly. This is 2 coats alone and layered over Be a Dahlia Won’t You? and Come to Poppy.

Overall:
A small but nice pink collection. My favorite being Come to Poppy because it's so hot mattified!
What do you think about these? Did you get any of them?

  1. Come on! I didn't want I Lily love you until I saw this! It looks perfect on it's own too! This is the first swatch I like it so much that I now really need it... Once. :D Great pics! Like always. :)

  2. @Ivana Thank you sweetie! I took pictures with 2 coats and then I tried with 3 but 2 is definitely the best IMO.
    xoxo.

  4. Gorgeous swatches as usual, and the colors do look nice, but I think I'm going to skip all of them. I just have never been too keen on pink, you know?
But if I get anything, it'll be Come to Poppy because it does look amazing matte, but also because the name just makes me laugh.

  5. I really want to get that camera now! I got every polish from the collection bar BADWY? I read it was very similar to CG 108 degrees but it looks so good in your photos - especially with ILLY!

  7. LOL! Great minds think alike! I decided to post my swatches on Nice Stems for Pink Wednesday too :D

Beautiful swatches, and wow, Come to Poppy is GORGEOUS matte! I should have thought of that :o) I wonder how it compares to OPI's La Paz-itively Hot in matte.

  8. You know Sam... I have two of these colours, even posted on the "Dahlia" one myself today... but man your swatches are breathtaking! That's all I have to say.
    Breathtaking!

  9. I loooooove them! I started to be impatient from the first promo pics and went crazy when the release date was pushed back!! I'm wearing Be a Dahlia right now, it's so gorgeous. It's funny how you think PtPeony wouldn't look good on you , while I love it on me and love Come to Poppy way less, though I find it superb on you!!
I will try it matte though, it's fantastic.

  10. Sorry for the second comment, but in between two manis, I've tried Come to Poppy matte and I have to thank you for thinking of it, it's wonderful!! I had just been looking at the Manglaze hot pink, and that's a killed lemming now, thanks :D

  11. Love it! I have my eye on this collection...as Julia Roberts would say, "pink is my signature color" LOL

I have several pinks right now, though none so shimmery. I have a hot pink matte (Lolly from Zoya) but I love what you did! I've got Butter London's matte but haven't played with it nearly enough.

I'm not sure about the glitter tho--and that's saying alot since I lurve glitter.

Definitely keeping this set on my wishlist after seeing your swatches, thanks!!

  12. Great shots! I am all over this collection - but then being a major fuchsia polish freak = Dahlia is up my alley big time! OPI and flaky? Rarely happens. Lilly is unique and that's saying something for me with my love/hate for glitters due to how hard they are to get off - and I get tired of them after they have been on only 1 day. Poppy for me needs a glossy topper - something in it seems to have a touch of neon because of the way it goes on matte. And Peony, I thought I would not like but wrong! It's really fun - different than anything I have - a very opaque taupe with a pink tint - looks great with Lilly over it too.
