Clarins 230: the Ultimate nail polish

On the quest for the holy grail of nail polishes, Clarins 230 is certainly the most coveted of all time. Often refered to as unicorn pee because of the extremely precious yet rare and discontinued pigment that enters its composition, it is, at least to me, the most "chameleon-esque" nail polish of all time.

Clarins 230 is composed of a seemingly purple sheer base color and an abundance of shimmer particles, both color changing.
Its complexity resides in the fact that depending on the angle the lighting hits it, you will see it come to life before your own eyes : a base color burgundy in the center and blue on the edges and shimmer particles metamorphosing from toxic grass green to yellow, orange and red.

Now I must warn you : this post will be picture heavy and I'll refuse to accept any responsibility in future lemmings it might create... LOL

All the nail swatches, except for the first one, are taken with basecoat, 2 coats of OPI Diva of Geneva, 2 coats of Clarins 230, no topcoat.

So what do you think?
Is it worth all the drama?
Or is it too wiered for you?

  1. I may have to stop following you... you not only are creating one lemming after another for me... this is turning into a very serious polish addiction problem LOL. Can you now please tell me where can I get that precious gem?

  2. It is gorgeous, but the only places I've seen it on sale it was at a ridiculous price like 70$, so for now it's not on my list of priorities

  5. I think it's very pretty, but so not worth the $90 it's going for on ebay.

  8. Hi girls, thanks for all these comments, I appreciate them so much.
I really consider this polish so unique and amazing that there are no words to describe it...
It's definitely in my top 5 and I believe that even someone not familiar to the nail world would see its true beauty.
Now this being said, I didn't want to get into the price polemics in my review because the ridiculous prices it has reached in the past ($200-$300) or it is being sold right now ($80-$150) isn't inherent to the brand or the nail polish itself but the greed of some sellers.
Thus, I didn't think the price tag diminished its inner beauty so I wanted to share it with you girls, just like I sometimes review some really cheap nail polishes.
Again thanks for all your comments.
    xoxo.

  10. This one is one of the rare drama makers I consider worth all the thunder around it. It's just perfect. I hate how money greeders are making profit of it. But I really wouldn't mind having it, that's certain. It looks beautiful, especially on your perfection of nails.
