Pink Wednesday : Dior Paradise Catwalk Duo Summer 2011 "Electric Tropics"

This Summer's new Dior nail polish collection "Electric Tropics" consists of 2 fluorescent sets : the Catwalk Duos, Aloha and Paradise.
I already reviewed Aloha and today I have Paradise for review.

The Catwalk Duo Set includes a nail polish and a glossy, fast drying glossy topcoat.

Paradise isn't your typical neon, it's more of a fluorescent pen pink. It dries to a satin finish and has some very small (shimmer? fluorescent?) particles. In terms of formula, I was very disappointed, it was goopy, not unmanageably goopy but definitely not Dior's usal standard. It was also very sheer with a noticiable VNL (Visible Nail Line) even at 3 coats.
I took pictures at different stages of the manicure : 3 coats with and without topcoat but also 2 coats to show you the difference. You have to know that the VNL is more obvious in real life than in the pictures, somehow it only accurately translated on my index finger, o_O
On the other hand, Paradise dried really fast, but not too fast, in order to prevent patchiness, the neons common issue; its consistency allowing you to go over the same spot if you have made some small imperfections.

The fast drying topcoat has a very watery formula, it made me think of drying drops more than of the usual thick fast drying topcoats I use, seche or posche, but it dried really fast too, and to a glossy finish.

Overall :
I love the color, it's a kind of soft neon but the VNL is really problematic, especially considering that the other Catwalk Duo Aloha is a one coater... I'd recommand it for pedis, short nails or with an underwear color such as white or nude.

  1. It looks a bit sheer, but it's gorgeous anyways! For me personally, I don't really like fluorescent colors( quite a blasfemy for a brazillian girl), but this pink I could think of getting, if ever reach my country stores.

  3. It's a shame the formula is bad--- the peachy pink sheen is really gorgeous!

  4. I think it's supposed to be sheer... and I still really want this duo, not the Aloha + top coat. Damn Dior. :(

  5. Paradise looks gorgeous on you Sam!

The formula issue is odd though. Are there different formulas available? Aloha was definitely no one and not even a two coater for me. I still had to apply a third coat to cover the visible nail line and I also couldn't see any particles at all in both Aloha and Paradise. *confused* :(

  6. Moi j'adore Aloha, et si tu dit que c’était pas pareil tu as raison d’être deçue, puisque c'est la même collection et en plus Aloha est aussi un fluo, donc je ne vois pas pour quoi la formule serait différente.
