Fluttering and bursting with bright candy colours is the Yves Saint Laurent Candy Face Makeup Collection Spring 2012. Llyods Simmonds, Creative Director for YSL Beauty takes inspiration from "fruit jellies, translucent raspberry and wild strawberry, mandarin orange, melon, mango and persimmon" to bring out a girly collection full of delicious shades.
The Candy Face collection will include 2 Manicure Couture sets, Edition 7 Edition 8.
Edition 7 consists of a warm dark brown creme with mahogany tints and a subtle warm minty green shimmer with a noticeable yellow hue. Formula was quite manageable, a little on the thick side, but not hard to work with. I didn't use thiner and they both evened out after a thin second coat.
Edition 8 consists of 2 shimmers : a medium blue based pink and a bright pastel orange (is that even possible?). Formula was just the same as the other two, a bit thick but very manageable. I instantly fell in love with the orange the minute I had it on. It's not a color I wear that much and I don't think I have that many oranges but his one is completely different from anything in my stash, sweet and bold at the same time, see for yourself!
This collection really deserve its name with 3 candy like shimmers.
I definitely enjoyed wearing the brown and pink that seemed like the perfect tone of "bubblegum". But I absolutely loved the green (such a fresh shade, perfect for Spring) and of course the orange!
The Manucure Couture duos are already available online on YSLbeauty.com and in selected boutiques and retail for 30€ / $30 / £24, 2 x 6ml/0.2fl.oz.
