World Diabetes Day

Blogging has changed my life.
I got to meet amazing people from all around the world and to be part of a community that has always been there to take a stand, spread the word or help each other out.

Today's post is dedicated to one of my most faithful readers Hannah and to her amazing daughter Rae

Diabetes is a chronic disease that arises when the pancreas does not produce enough insulin, or when the body cannot effectively use the insulin it produces.
At present, type 1 diabetes cannot be prevented. Type 2 diabetes, however, can be prevented in many cases by maintaining a healthy weight and being physically active. People at high risk can be easily identified through a simple questionnaire to assess risk factors such as age, waist circumference, family history, cardiovascular history and gestational history.
Please visit the International Diabetes Federation for more information.

  3. Wonderful post. I have two cousins who suffer from diabetes, and it's great that the bloggers are helping raise awareness.
I own Ophelia and Moonlight Beach, so I'll probably do a mani like that soon :)

  7. Thanks so much for posting this.

My late mother was Type 1, as is my now-college junior son, who was diagnosed at age 11.

It pleases me no end to see the issue highlighted because it is one serious beee-atch of a disease.

Your mani, as usual, is simply STUNNING! Geez, that blue just knocks my socks off!

    :)

    Thanks again!

  9. I know about this disease. My granny hardly suffers from diabetes; if she gets any wound then it will take so long to get cured. It is very important to have a good diet plan.
