OPI Mariah Carey Collaboration Collection review

Hi girls!
I hope you're all having a great week so far! Mine has been busy and unfortunately things won't slow down before a week or so. I really can't wait for my training year at work to be over, hopefully I'll have much more spare time by then ;D

Today I have the OPI Mariah Carey Collection to share with you. I know I'm late to the party but with all the Liquid Sands / Pixie Dusts / Sugar Mattes / ... released lately, some of you might still want to jump on the bandwagon.

Stay the Night is a matte black textured base with small red glitters. It's hands down my favorite from this collection, that's why I'm showing it first haha. It's dark, obviously, but the red pieces really enlighten it, LOVE! I used 2 coats in the swatches below, no topcoat.

Can’t Let Go is a matte purple textured base with medium lavender hex glitters. I wasn't really sure about this one at first because of the larger pieces of glitter but it ended up looking hot! I also used 2 coats and no topcoat below.

Get Your Number is a matte medium blue textured scattered with holographic glitters. I really wish the holo pieces translated in my picture because they add a whole new dimension. I also loved this one and wore it for 4 days in a row, which is pretty exceptional if you ask me! Two coats and no topcoat here as well.

The Impossible is a matte fuschia textured with medium silver holo hexes as well as a few silver holo stars. I was afraid it would look way too girly for me but it was't that bad. I actually kind of liked wearing it LOL. I had some fishing to do to get a couple of stars on my nails but I think it works better with fewer stars anyway so I didn't mind. Excellent coverage and formula, 2 coats and no topcoat here.

Sprung is a super vivid and sparkly brown shimmer. I'm not really into browns but this one is so bold that I couldn't feel meh about it. It's such a complex brown! Formula was a bit more sheer than the previous ones but offered a lot of control. Complete coverage and full depth at 3 coats plus topcoat below.

A Butterfly Moment is a rosy nude with gold shimmer. I was afraid it would be a grandma shade but it's not bad at all! I think it looked great with on my skintone. Formula was outstanding : great opacity for such a light shade and an extremely glowy finish. Two coats plus topcoat below.

Pink Yet Lavender (shown over A Butterfly Moment here) is a mix of light pink hexes, small lavender glitters as well as a few holographic pieces. It's not really my thing but I think that it looks gorgeous over A Butterfly Moment. Glitter payoff was perfect and you're looking at just one coat of Pink Yet Lavender below.

Anti-Bleak is a very warm purple creme. It's the only one that seems out of place in the collection, I mean it's just a creme, right? I'm not really attracted to this type of purple but it still looked nice on the nails and more importantly, offered excellent coverage and application. Two coats plus topcoat in these swatches.

Overall :
I wasn't sure about the textured trend at first... I thought I couldn't stand the gritty surface but the Liquid Sands really grew on me. As mentioned above, I wore Get Your Number for 4 days straight and barely experienced any tipwear, it really did wear like iron! As for removal, it was somewhere between regular polish and glitter but nothing that would ever keep me from wearing them again ;-)

What do you think about this collection? Have you tried the Liquid Sands yet?

  1. I'm not so sure about the liquid sand texture, but I do love the shades with top coat. So much pretty glitter :)

  2. The shade of stay the nigh is pretty but I really dislike the finish. Anti-bleak has a very pretty shade

  3. I love these! I picked up the blue & purple liquid sands, as well as Butterfly Moment (a happy surprise-love it!) and Pink Yet Lavender. The liquid sands surprised me, too, Get Your Number especially. So deep! And the texture didn't bother me nearly as much as I though it would, either.

  4. Butterfly Moment was a happy surprise for me, too; I actually love it, even on my olive-y skin! And Get Your Number is so amazing in person. I love Sprung, too!

  5. I love the Liquid Sand polishes.. but I've been buying so much nail polish lately that I have been putting them on hold. A Butterfly Moment is really nice as well.

  7. I love Sprung and Anti-bleak...
I like the finish in liquid sand polishes, but not the shades (but the new ones coming soon in Bond Girls collection are pretty)

  8. I liked the impossible the most. Stay the night only looks good in pictures - in daylight I think it really looks washed out.
I'm wearing the black KIKO sugar matte polish, and that one looks also a washed out in daylight. So I'm looking forward to the bond girls liquid sand polishes, maybe the white one will not have this faded look!

  9. I do not really like the Liquid Sand finish, as I find them too gritty. I do however like finer sand polishes like the Zoya Pixie Dusts or Kiko Sugar Mattes.

  10. Such pretty photos! I have the purple one but have not a chance to try it out yet. I'm more excited about it now. :)

  11. Gorgeous swatches.
I love the liquid sands which is weird because I'm usually more a fan of the creme, glossy look. But I really love Can't Let Go.

  12. I've been really wary of the liquid sand and other textured ones. I thought Zoya's Pixie Dusts looked the most appealing to me, but now I'm really liking these too.
